🧠 When You Know Better… But Don’t Do Better

Quote of the Day:

“We defend our self-destructive habits with indefensible logic...”
— Jack Canfield, The Success Principles™

Oof. That one hits harder than a stale croissant to the face.

We’ve all been there—wasting time, dodging discomfort, putting off the thing that could move the needle because it feels just a little too ick. Back in 2014, I was in the same boat, hunched over paperwork at midnight, running a center with over 500 subjects with my then business partner and very little sleep. Fast-forward to now—2025 glow-up edition—and let’s just say, I’ve traded burnout for boundaries.

🪞What Changed?

One word: Discipline.
Not the strict, scary kind. The I-love-my-future-self kind.

The difference between how it started and how it’s going comes down to daily habits and how we respond to the things we want to avoid. Like:

  • Time tracking (ugh)

  • Documenting SOPs (snooze)

  • Awkward staff convos (cringe)

  • Parent complaints (double cringe)

These aren’t thrilling, but they’re essential. And every time we avoid them, we delay our own growth.

💫 Today’s Spark: Choose Ascension Over Aversion

Your character, your contribution, your calm—they’re all shaped by how you show up to the “I’d-rather-not” moments.

So how do you actually do that without crumbling into a TikTok spiral or deciding now’s a great time to deep-clean your fridge?

🔥 Ignite Action: Try the 5-Minute Method

The 5-Minute Method:
Set a timer.
Commit to the task for just 5 minutes.
That’s it.

No pressure to finish—just start.

Examples:

  • Folding laundry? 5 minutes.

  • Replying to a tough email? 5 minutes.

  • Updating process docs? 5 minutes.

This works for grown adults and for 7-year-olds in meltdown mode. (Trust me, my students literally beg to keep going after the timer rings. Momentum is magic.)

🎯 Your Move:

Pick 3 tasks you’ve been avoiding.
Use the 5-minute method.
Celebrate the win of starting.
Repeat until your future self wants to high-five you in the mirror.

Because let’s be real—you don’t need more time.
You need more tiny moments of courageous action. 💪
