Leadership & Boundaries
🔥 Torchbearer™ or People-Pleaser? Leadership Needs You to Choose.
Trying to lead while making everyone happy? That’s not leadership! That's what we call emotional gymnastics. This post explores the difference between being a Torchbearer™ and a people-pleaser, and gives you tools to lead with clarity, courage, and boundaries without turning into a corporate robot.

🚨 “I Don’t Want to Upset Anyone...” 🚨
...said every leader secretly running a popularity contest instead of a business.
Sound familiar? You’re not alone. So many of us confuse “good leadership” with being liked. But here’s what I've had to learn the hard way:
✨ You can’t carry the torch and carry everyone’s baggage too.
You’ve got to pick one.
🔥 Torchbearers lead with vision, values, and clear boundaries.
🙃 People-pleasers lead with guilt, guessing, and gut-wrenching group texts.
Here’s how to step into Torchbearer Mode, Tandem Spark-style:
Clarify your values and share them.
If your team doesn’t know what hill you’re willing to die on, they’ll drag you into every valley.Let go of “nice.” Choose “clear.”
Brene Brown said it best: “Clear is kind.” And guess what? It’s also effective.Set boundaries before resentment hits.
Don’t wait until you’re rage-cleaning your inbox at midnight. Say what you mean, early and kindly.
💫 Today’s Spark: Leadership Without Boundaries = Exhaustion With a Title
You were never meant to be everyone’s favorite.
You were meant to be aligned, and that alignment might upset some folks. (And that’s OK.)
🔥 Ignite Action: Try the Leadership Litmus Test
Each time you say “yes,” ask:
Question | Your Answer |
|---|---|
Is this aligned with my values? | ✅ / ❌ |
Am I saying yes to avoid discomfort? | 😬 …be honest. |
What would a Torchbearer™ do? | 🕯 Lead. Don’t placate. |
Bonus: Write your “Torchbearer™ Mantra.”
Something like:
“I lead with truth, not approval. I hold space, not grudges. I don’t abandon myself to keep the peace.”
✨ Final Word
Leadership isn’t about being liked. It’s about being respected, trusted, and followed. Not for your charm, but for your clarity.
You’re not here to be everyone's best friend. You're here to light the path and set the standard.
Next week, I’ll coach you through my favorite topic: enrollment and sales! All without the ick, the scripts, or the fake urgency countdown timers. But for now, just remember:
📣 People-pleasing is exhausting. Torch-bearing is electric.
